In a strategic drive to accelerate world class research in the UAE, Etisalat, BT and Khalifa University have signed an agreement to establish the Etisalat BT Innovation Centre (EBTIC). The centre focuses its research and innovation on Next Generation Networks and advanced ICT services and applications which are areas of strategic importance to its founding partners.
Underpinned by the synergies of the partners' vision for research excellence and the UAE’s drive to develop technically capable local workforce and foster innovation, EBTIC is attracting talented individuals globally and locally in order to carry out world class research and achieve its aims through challenging objectives setting.
EBTIC started its operations at the Abu Dhabi campus of Khalifa University in 2009 and has already made significant progress towards realising its vision. The active collaboration between industry and academia (Etisalat, BT and Khalifa University) gives EBTIC a unique perspective and enables it to conduct both industry outcome driven research and innovation as well as longer term research initiatives.
EBTIC represents a significant achievement accentuating the effectiveness of collaborative open innovation in driving research and innovation, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) generation and developing talents, while enabling Etisalat and BT (the industry partners in EBTIC) to better serve their customers through the application of these innovations.
